Many of the stereotypes you hear about London are true — especially when it comes to the weather. London has a reputation for being a bit dreary; and I've experienced my fair share of chilly, wet days in the capital during past visits.
But not this time.
The third trip to London must have been the charm when it came to weather. I was there for a week, and saw sunny skies every single day. With the exception of two cloudy mornings, there wasn't even the slightest threat of rain. And the temperatures? Well those were up in the 80s (high 20s/low 30s for those using Celsius) every day. I even experienced some humidity!
So, to celebrate this uncharacteristic weather (and to give you a little taste of what I saw and did there this time around), here are some photos of London in the sunshine:
Crossing over the Westminster Bridge to say hi to Big Ben.The London Eye in the morning sun.A Bubble Busker delighting kids (and me) on the South Bank.A quiet South Bank courtyard.Crossing the Thames on the Millennium Bridge.A love lock on the Millennium Bridge.Sun shining on St. Paul's Cathedral.Londoners and tourists alike have lunch (and/or ice cream) on the steps of St. Paul's.London, as seen from the top of St. Paul's.Walking down Regent's Street in the sun.Buckingham Palace looking very royal. The Queen Victoria Memorial near Buckingham Palace.Colorful Camden Town.Camden Lock on a perfect summer day.Camden Lock again. I love the markets here.Pretty buildings in Camden.Georgian homes in London's East End.More East End homes – I couldn't get enough! It's not really IN London, but Hampton Court Palace was pretty sweet.Inside Hampton Court Palace – this courtyard was my favorite bit other than the gardens. And lastly, Londoners relaxing by a fountain near Marble Arch in the evening.
I was very spoiled by the weather in London this time around. I highly doubt I will ever happen upon a stretch of perfect days like this again there. At least I'll have the photos to prove that, yes, the sun DOES sometimes shine in London!

I really wanted to visit London in the same period, but there were no Eurostar trains back to Lille in the period I could go ๐
Visiting the parks in London and Stonehenge with blue skies is definitely on my to do list!
Enjoy the rest of your trip – may the sun follow you everywhere ๐
I went again in December ๐
Not as warm, but with the Christmas spirit (and decorations) everywhere you wouldn’t have noticed ๐
My new wishlist for London is now: Stonehenge – blue skies – going out in Leicester Square.
What a beautiful set of photos! London is having such a glorious summer right now. I returned back home to the states after living there for a year. I would definitely recommend going in the fall. The sun shines a lot more often than you would think! Spring is practically non existent in London, they just go right into summer ๐
Despite now living in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, London remains our favourite world city. It would be most people’s fave global choice too, if only the weather was like your photos more rather than less of the time. However, those parks and gardens are green for a reason.
It’s probably my favorite big city in the world, too. But yes, you’re right about the parks! They were all quite brown when I was there – I guess that’s the trade-off for having lots of sunny days!
When I saw sunny and London in the title, I had to take a peek to see it for myself! Though I’ve never been, my lil’ bro lived there and always complained about the grey. Rad you got to catch it on a sunny day…looks WAY different than what I usually see!
London is by far the most amazing place in the world when its sunny! the atmosphere of the city is amazing! The parks are the best place to be! the events that occur are unmissable – if you can keep up with them.
I so agree. It’s kind of like Wellington. A lot of people hate it because the weather is usually crappy. But Wellington on a sunny day? It’s just perfection. And London is the same way for me.
Love the photos and it is very rare to get perfect days like you had! Also you have an amazing camera to capture shots like this! Keep up the good work!

Beautiful photos! When I visited London years (and years) ago – it was in November so you can imagine my photos did not look the same!
Aww yes, I can imagine! Hopefully you still loved it, though!
Amazing photos!!! It’s nice seeing the icons of London with some blue sky behind them ๐
Thank you, Sarah!
Perfect sunshine for the royal baby!
Indeed! Prince George was welcomed with blue skies!

Aww, too bad! Hopefully you’ll get to go to London soon!

Ah, London around the holidays would be so lovely!
And Stonehenge with blue skies is definitely worth putting on your wish list!
Your pictures are all very nice, but I think my favourite is the one with the giant bubbles ๐
That’s one of my favorites, too, Franca – so fun!

Jealous that you just spent a year living there! I would love to live in London for a while.
Looks like you were definitely spoiled with the London weather! Hope it stays sunny for when I’m there in a few weeks.
Yes, SO spoiled! Hopefully it keeps up for you.

London really does come alive in good weather! On a sunny day in London, there’s no place I’d rather be!

I so agree! I loved walking around London in the sun and seeing so many people outdoors enjoying the weather.
That’s what I keep telling people. London anytime is great — but London in the sunshine is heaven on Earth and impossible to forget.

This post makes me want to make my third trip to London to see if my luck with the weather will be just as charmed!
I hope it will be! London in the sun is just amazing.

I dunnoโฆ I’ve seen my fair share of sunny days like this in London! ๐
