The Algarve region of Portugal is known for its fishing villages, sea cliffs, and beautiful beaches. Lagos is a fun city destination in the Algarve region.

When you visit Lagos, renting a car isn't necessary. You can get around via taxi and on foot. To get started on your vacation, enjoy the views at Praia da Batata, a public beach right in town.

A boat tour to visit the famous Ponta da Piedade is a must. Explore the amazing rock formations, grottos, and sea caves. The morning tours are affordable and amazing.

Downtown

Visit the town square and plan a trip to the Mercado de Escravos, which is a museum dedicated to the history of slavery located on the site of the city's former slave market.

Admire the architecture at the Altar at Igreja de Santo António, Castelo de Lagos, and Forte da Ponta da Bandeira. Plus consider a stop at the Markthalle seafood market near the marina.

Hike to see Ponte da Piedade and Praia de Dona Ana from the cliffs above! Remember to bring sunscreen and swimwear on this fun coastal hike. You'll enjoy amazing views.

Turquoise Waters

Try a detour down the stairs to Praia do Camilo, which is arguably one of the prettiest beaches along this coast. The sand and water at Praia do Camilo is stunning.

In the evening you can enjoy local cuisine at Cantinho Algarvio and don't miss the best beach sunset from Miradouro Praia da Batata, just steps away from downtown.

I'd recommend the Baluarte da Vila Apartments, which saved me money because I made some meals myself, or I'd consider something close to the marina.
