Back in 1989, two guys from Melbourne, Australia by the names of Darrell and Manch set off on an adventure to the other side of the world. They travelled to Africa and without air conditioning on their modified truck, they filled it with supplies, some beer, a bunch of aviator sunglasses, and some friends. Unfortunately we are unable to give visa advice due to the vast number of nationalities which our customers represent. Some nationalities can travel freely over borders, where others require advance permission to enter. There are also changes in requirements from time to time. We recommend checking your local embassy or consulate's website for the latest up to date information.
- What is the average group size of this tour?
The expected group size for this tour is 1 - 16 people.
- I'm a solo traveller, is there a single supplement?
Solo travellers do not have to pay a single supplement as this is a group trip designed for shared accommodation. You will be paired in twin or multi-share accommodation with travellers of the same sex, which is a great way to get to know your group and enrich your travel experience! If you would prefer a little more privacy, a single supplement can be paid subject to availability for all nights excluding Day 2 and 3. Please contact our Travel Experts for more information.
- Can you tell me more about the accommodation?
Accommodation on this trip is on a twin/multishare basis. Please note there may be times where facilities will be shared rather than ensuite and rare occasions when you share a room with passengers travelling on different Intrepid trips than your own. The accommodation is basic, clean and comfortable but please note that the the style of accommodation indicated in the day-to-day itinerary is a guideline. On rare occasions, alternative arrangements may need to be made due to the lack of availability of rooms in our usual accommodation. A similar standard of accommodation will be used in these instances.
- What is the age range?
Those under 15 are unable to book onto this tour and under 18's must be accompanied by an adult. There are no upper age limits for this tour however, and Intrepid's appeal is diverse. If you're comfortable with the itinerary then your welcome to join the tour!
- What kind of luggage should I bring?
What you need to bring will vary according to the trip style you have chosen, the countries you are visiting and when you are travelling. Generally speaking you should pack as lightly as possible. On the vast majority of our trips you are expected to carry your own luggage, although you won't be required to walk long distances with it (max 30 minutes).
Most travellers carry their luggage in a backpack, although an overnight bag with a shoulder strap would suffice if you travel lightly. Smaller bags or backpacks with wheels are convenient although we recommend your bag has carry straps. You'll also need a day pack/bag to carry water and a camera etc for day trips. - Where can I find more detailed information about this tour?
A trip note - which contains essential information about your trip will be given to you. Information such as the daily itinerary, where to meet on the first day, what time the trip starts, how to get to the joining point hotel, included activities, visa information, etc will be mentioned in there. Please contact us for this.
- Do you arrange airport transfers?
Airport transfers are not included in the price of this tour, however, these can be booked through Intrepid. Please contact our travel experts to arrange this. Metered taxi ranks are available outside the airport entrance.
