  1. Hey Amanda,

    This is Danial Shah from
I am a travel photographer and travel blogger and currently blogging about my journeys in Pakistan.
I just checked that you share travelers stories on your blog featured as “Thursday Traveler”.
I would like if you can feature my interview at your blog 🙂

Looking forward to hear from you soon

    have a good day!

    Danial Shah

Wow, your blog looks awesome! And Pakistan certainly isn’t a destination you read about everyday! I would love to feature you as a Thursday Traveler. I’ll send you an e-mail straight away.

Amanda and fellow blog readers, Could you please comment on the highway between Grand Canyon South Rim and Zion National Park. We are from the flat midwest and want to know what we are in for. Thank you, Peg

It depends which way you go, but if you’re traveling directly from one to the other, chances are you’ll be taking Route 89 through Page, Arizona. That highway is like any US highway – paved and mostly straight. You won’t run into any twisting mountain roads until you actually get into Zion National Park – the Mount Carmel Highway is very winding and goes through tunnels into/out of Zion.

    Hello Amanda,

I came across your blog and have enjoyed it. I really like your article on Secrets to Writing a Travel Blog When Your Not Traveling. Right now I am in Phoenix with my husband, but for four years we sailed the world on our 35 foot boat. We returned from our voyage in 2009. I was wondering if you would consider our travel experiences for a Thursday Traveler Interview.

To see if we are worthy of your blog, this is a link to our website,

    Thank you and Happy Holidays.

    Kelly Waterhouse

I read your blog quite a lot and I which camera you recommend.

quite a lot of reviews an it has been reported as a poor low light camera. This is quite important for me as I want to take pictures of the Harbin Ice Festival next year. Have you had any problems takeing photos in low light?

    Thank you for your time

      Hi Zoe,

Obviously camera buying is all about personal preference. The Canon I have right now is a great little point-and-shoot, but, being a point-and-shoot, it does suffer in low-light situations, like many other similar cameras. If you want to do serious photography, you may have to consider spending a bit more! I just purchased an Olympus E-PM1, which is kind of in between a point-and-shoot and a DSLR (it has a similar sensor to an SLR, and has interchangeable lenses). You get what you pay for, basically!

Are you still doing blogger interviews? You should check out Ready-Set-Jet Just read about the founder on HSBC’s blog…she seems like a good fit for your Thursdays! Great site, always browsing >.< !!

    HI Amanda,

We’re traveling around the world for a year, blogging and writing for the Philadelphia Inquirer. Since one half of us is a native Buckeye (Cleveland Rocks!) we thought you might be interested in asking us questions for your “Thursday Traveler.”

    Larissa and Michael

I would be happy to feature you guys!

    Hi Amanda,

I would be honored to be featured on your Thursday Traveler, as you may know I am headed out to begin my life as a permanent traveler on July 15th 2012 and will be spending 5-6 months in Europe before I (mostlikely) will be heading to South Korea to teach English for a year to build up my savings and then begin traveling again.

Your one of my travel blogging mentors and I can’t wait to meet in person at TBEX! Keep up the great work cause I’m loving it!

Hey Heather! I only have time for a quick reply here, so if I forget to e-mail you the questions later, shoot me an e-mail or a DM on Twitter so I remember!

I am emailing to see if you have any advertising opportunities currently. I am looking to promote a car insurance comparison site that is about to relaunch next month. If you could send me details of any text link placements you can offer along with pricing information, I can make an immediate decision and pay by Paypal today. Ideally we would be looking for a link within a sentence of text, placed on your homepage only.

    Hi Amanda,

I just sent you an email about you Thursday Traveler interviews. Hope you get a chance to read it!

    Speak soon

Sure thing, Mark! I’ll get your link added to my Resources page right now.

    Hi Amanda

I am really interested to learn who or how you constructed your website? Is this something both designed, created and maintain yourself or did you employ someone to design the template for you? I’m keen to start something myself but there are so many options out there from WordPress’ basic templates to Weebly, etc. This however seems very custom.

Any tips or advice would be appreciated.

Hey Caro! I take care of my site myself (it’s self-hosted with WordPress installed on it), but I use a framework theme called Pagelines, which allows a lot of customization – which it why it looks “very custom” I suppose! It’s all drag-and-drop, though, so it doesn’t take a lot of design know-how on my part (though I do all my graphics/photos myself). Before this I was just using a free WordPress theme, but I switched over to Pagelines at the end of the summer!

On your bucket list it said you hunted vampires in Romania.. Can you really do that? I don’t believe in vmapires, but that is still so cool. Plus it would be so much fun or at least it seams like it would be.

Haha, you can’t *actually* do it… it’s on there are kind of a silly thing! I did travel around in Transylvania and Wallachia, where the Dracula myth was supposed to come from.

    Hey Amanda

Are you still doing Thursday Traveler interviews? I have a blog I started over a year ago and have backpacked through Europe for three months as well as taking trips when I can to other countries since I have been back to work. I just got back from a two week trip I took to Dublin, Paris and Rome with my nieces.

Hey Kim! I AM still doing interviews, though they’ve been sort of put on hold while I’ve been traveling. I hope to start them up again soon! Shoot me an e-mail if you’d like to participate in the future.

Found you on my twitter feed, and now am here on your site. Will email you for some suggestions/working together to help further advertise and get the word out about our wonderful company, that does ‘private’ guided day tours and multi day tours in both Greece and Turkey. I like your energy, tenacity, creativity. So as we say in Greece, ‘tha dhuma’ we’ll see.

Hey! Have been following your blog for quite some time now and I absolutely love it! Would be honored to be featured on Thursday Traveler interviews! Let me know! I have just gotten back from Hawaii and Chicago, and would love to talk about Israel and Greece! Let me know! 🙂

Hey Jessica! Shoot me an e-mail, and we’ll talk!

Awesome travels so far! You’ve made quite the mark on the world map! I’m impressed and a bit envious at the same time. You are obviously well traveled, so I’d like to run our adventure plans by you:

Arrive in Sofia, Bulgaria, then to:
    Plovidiv, Bulgaria
    Brasov, Romania
    Chisinau, Moldova
    Yalta, Ukraine
    Krasnodar, Russia
and finally Sochi, Russia for the Sochi Winter Olympics!!

So there is obviously a lot going on, but what in Bulgaria, Romania, etc. do you most recommend?? These are the main cities we are planing on hitting, but we may have some wiggle room. THANK YOU!! Keep up the good travels!

Ahhh the Olympics! How awesome! It sounds like a great adventure.

I can’t say anything about Moldova or the Ukraine, unfortunately. But in Sofia definitely visit Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, and perhaps even the Archaeological Museum (I found it really interesting). Plovdiv is great (so pretty, and so much Roman history there!), and Brasov is also wonderful. In Brasov, skip Bran Castle (or, if you really want to go, at least make sure to also visit Rasnov Fortress, which I thought was way better!). If you can squeeze in another stop in Romania, definitely go to Sighisoara!

    Hi Amanda!

I just sent you an email regarding an interview, hope you can get back to me soon!

    Miriam Zaki

I really enjoyed your travel blog. Well done!! Very attractive site and content. If you get a chance, check mine out. It’s new! 🙂

Thanks, Stephanie! Good luck with your blog. 🙂

Hey Amanda – I follow your travels on and off whenever I feel distracted from life and crave new experiences 🙂 I’m currently working on my own blog in adventure travel and you’re a big inspiration for that. Thanks and keep adventuring!

Thanks so much, Ankit! I wish you the best of luck with you own blog, and hope mine can keep inspiring you!

    Hi Amanda,

I’m from Romania, and I find excellent the article about my country. The pictures are also beautiful and inspiring.
Looking for new ways to promote Romania as a travel destination.
Keep up the great work !

      Thank you, Anca!

    Hi Amanda,
Thank you for your info about Norway in a Nutshell.
I am worried about carrying my case all the way from Bergen to Oslo and on so many forms of transport in one day.
Is there anyway you can send your cases on from Bergen to Oslo ?
    Please email me,
    Sydney Australia

Hi Diana. I don’t know of any luggage service, I’m afraid. Even though you can book this as a tour package, you are taking public transport the whole way. My best advice is to pack light! 🙂

    Hi there.
This is the first time I visit your blog and I am nicely impressed, because it’s like you are reading my thoughts.
To be a blogger is just amazing thing and I simply love it! Thank you for the encouraging thoughts!
I have a question: which free platform for blogging you consider better for new bloggers who has zero experience after WordPress – Contentful or Blogr?

    My bestest regards :Sam

I started out with a free WordPress site – but Blogger is also popular as a free option.
