Photo of the Day: St. Kevin's Church

Today’s photo was taken at the ancient site of Glendalough, in a glacial valley in County Wicklow, Ireland. The valley was settled centuries ago by the hermit priest St. Kevin, and this old stone church was named after him. Today, the site — with its crumbling headstones and rustic ruins — is a popular tourist stop. Photo Essay: The Charm of Akaroa

During my trip to New Zealand last year, I finally visited the tiny French-infused town of Akaroa. The town that dozens of people told me I would absolutely love. I didn’t doubt them — I am a sucker for just about everything in New Zealand, after all — but I really wasn’t prepared for just how much I would adore this little seaside town. Located just over an hour outside of Christchurch on the Banks Peninsula, Akaroa took me by surprise with its colorful streets, …Read more…

Photo of the Day: Pali Lookout

Today’s photo comes to you from Hawaii — the island of Oahu, to be exact. This was taken at the Pali Lookout, a popular stop on most day tours from Honolulu. The lookout gives views all the way to the ocean and the town of Kaneohe. What caught and held my attention, however, was this cool rock formation and the cloud-covered Ko’olau mountain range on one side of the lookout. Photo of the Day: Fisherman's Table

Today’s photo comes to you from my favorite city in the world — Wellington, New Zealand. I snapped this shot on a sunny yet blustery winter day in NZ’s capital back in 2008. If I remember correctly, this was my first weekend living in the city, and my first trip down to Oriental Bay. I immediately fell in love! Fisherman’s Table is a seafood restaurant right on the water, though I can’t say I’ve ever eaten there. If you like this photo, please share it …Read more…

Photo of the Day: Victoria Harbor

Today’s photo comes from the beautiful city of Victoria, British Columbia. This city has perhaps one of the brightest, prettiest harbors I’ve ever seen. Little green harbor ferries bob in the water in front of the ornate Parliament building at one end of the harbor, while the ivy-coated Empress hotel (pictured here) towers over the water on another side. Pack Your Boots - We're Goin' to Iceland!

Iceland. The Land of Fire and Ice. A country so full of wild beauty that it literally explodes every now and then. (Come on, you all remember the evil ash cloud a few years back, right?) By all accounts, this rather obscure European country in the middle of the Atlantic is amazing. Perhaps unsurprisingly, therefore, it’s been on my radar for the past few years, ever since others began telling me I would love it because I love New Zealand. Because, as you all know, …Read more…

Photo of the Day: North Window Arch

One of the most popular (and easily accessible) areas of Arches National Park in Utah is the Windows Section. Here, a whole bunch of awesome arches are in close proximity — Double Arch, Turret Arch, and, of course, the “windows” themselves. When viewed from afar, the Windows are also known as the Spectacles, since they look like a pair of eyeglasses. This photo, though, is of the North Window up close. Look at that color contrast!! If you like this photo, please share it with …Read more…

Photo of the Day: Lake Wakatipu
