Last week, I asked you all to weigh in on which amazing trip from Intrepid Travel I should give away as an incentive to sign up for my new monthly newsletter. The voting response was terrific (thanks to everyone who weighed in!), and the votes were VERY close. Early on, it seemed like either Vietnam or Costa Rica was going to emerge as the winner.

But, in the end, it was the UNFORGETTABLE INDIA trip that won by 2 votes.

I’m actually really excited to give away this trip to one lucky reader/subscriber, because it’s exactly the kind of trip I would want to do with Intrepid Travel myself. India is a destination that I think a lot of people are curious about (and, come on, who doesn’t have the Taj Mahal on their bucket list??), but one that many people are apprehensive about tackling on their own. With a spot on a tour like this, the details will be taken care of for you, and you can just enjoy the experience.

Unforgettable India

So what exactly can you win? A spot on this tour, to be taken any time in 2013*.

As a reminder, here’s the tour description:

Visit India and discover this vibrant, intoxicating, inspiring and dramatic country. Tour India’s chaotic city streets and peaceful countryside, from the Mughal splendour of Delhi and Agra to tiger-spotting in Bandhavgarh National Park. Soak up India’s culture and history, smell and taste a world of spices, blush at the erotic Khajuraho carvings and see pilgrims undertake their daily rituals on the Ganges’ ghats. This adventure will provide unforgettable sensory experiences of unpredictable, chaotic and enchanting India.

The tour begins and ends in Delhi, with an itinerary that looks something like this:

  • Day 1-2: Delhi
  • Day 3: Varanasi
  • Day 4: River Ganges boat trip
  • Day 5: Allahabad
  • Day 6-7: Bandhavgarh National Park (maybe see some tigers!)
  • Day 8: Khajuraho (home to erotic Kama Sutra carvings)
  • Day 9-10: Orchha
  • Day 11-12: Chanderi
  • Day 13: Agra (and the Taj Mahal!)
  • Day 14-15: Delhi

The trip, with a maximum of 12 passengers, includes 3 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 2 dinners; has you staying in everything from tents to guesthouses to hotels to a jungle resort; and will have you traveling via boat, jeep, metro, and rickshaw. Talk about adventure!

*The only terms and conditions of this contest are that you have to pay for your own transport to/from Delhi (and for meals/activities not included in the itinerary, as well as travel insurance), and that the trip must be booked before September 30, 2013, with the travel itself taking place before December 31, 2013.

My Newsletter

So how do you enter to win this trip? It’s easy.

Just sign up for my newsletter!

Yes, finally I am launching a monthly newsletter to complement all the awesome material that I post on my blog. The newsletter is tentatively being called “Dangerous Dispatches,” and will likely include all of the following:

  • What I’m Up To (updates on recent trips, future trips, cool projects, etc.)
  • Most Popular Recent Posts (just in case you missed them on the blog)
  • Destination of the Month (with photos and travel tips that you won’t find on my blog)
  • Links I Love (this will replace my “Best Blogs of the Month” posts, and will include links to interesting posts, videos, etc. that I’ve discovered over the past month)
  • Reader Questions (if you have any, send them to me!)
  • And probably more! (like exclusive giveaways, deals, etc.)

I’m really excited to be launching this newsletter, and I hope you’re excited to start receiving it! (Also, if you have any suggestions on what you’d like to see in it, feel free to share them in the comments!)

I will be sending out this monthly newsletter on the last Wednesday of each month, with the first issue coming out on December 26.

So that means that you have until Christmas to sign up for my newsletter and be entered to win this amazing trip to India. I’ll be announcing the winner in the very first issue**!

Thanks for all your support, and I can’t wait for one of you to begin planning a trip to India soon!

**On Christmas, I will assign everyone who has subscribed to my newsletter a number, and then use random.org to choose a winner.

I was going back and forth with myself for a while as to whether or not I actually wanted to comment, since I don’t have a lot to say other than that I am in awe at how much you’ve managed to accomplish in such a relatively short time. It certainly makes for interesting reading, and I’m looking forward to the newsletter.
