Today’s photo was taken on the Banks Peninsula, on the way back to Christchurch after a day spent in the French-infused town of Akaroa. Earlier in the morning, the clouds and fog had been hanging so low that this view of the volcanic crater that makes up the peninsula had been completely obscured. But the sun was just breaking through the clouds before sunset, giving us a teasing glimpse down into the crater.
