Seeing Alaska from a cruise ship means I didn’t see the “real Alaska.” I know this; I’m aware that I got only a little taste. But, in Skagway, after taking the White Pass Railway up into the mountains, my family decided to rent a car and go a little further afield. We drove out of Skagway and into Canada for about an hour, taking in the mountains and valleys and sheer emptiness of the place. On our way back into Skagway, we drove out to the tidal flats and just meandered along in a forest in search of bears. We didn’t find any, but we did stumble upon some beautiful scenes, like this one:

We took a day trip to Skagway and it was cloudy, rainy, and foggy… can’t see anything
Even if there were bears following us we wouldn’t be able to see them.
Alaska is beautiful… We need to come back in the winter to catch the Northern Light someday.

The weather in Skagway was completely bipolar when we were there – sunny in the morning, ominous in the afternoon, but then sunny again as soon as we got out of town.
Alaska IS gorgeous, though. I’d love to go back someday. I want to see the Northern Lights, too!
Gorgeous capture!!!

Thanks, Andi!
Haven’t been up as far as Alaska. Lost my heart in the Rockies and never got any higher!
That is a beautiful image. Very nicely composed.
Thank you, Dawn. I’m a big fan of framing landscapes with flowers for some reason. Sometimes (like in this instance), they come out really good!
I must get to the Rockies sometimes soon. I’m sure I would fall in love, too, because I love mountains.
