If you’re planning to study abroad, you’ve probably got a lot on your mind. There’s a passport and visa to apply for, plane tickets to buy, suitcases to pack, housing to figure out — and that’s all before you even leave the country! Once you get to your destination, you have to worry about budgeting your money, integrating yourself into a (possibly) new culture, and keeping in touch with friends and family back home. And, oh yeah, there’s school, too!

I’ve been in your shoes — I studied abroad in Wellington, New Zealand, for a semester in 2008. Based on my experiences with the study abroad process, I’ve compiled a little “Things to Consider” list of helpful tips and tricks that may be of use to you as you plan your own adventure abroad.
